Eligibility: Applicants must be designated Indiana Main Street organizations (more at www.in.gov/ocra/mainstreet.htm)

Grant Amount: $15,000 to $40,000

Application Deadline: June 15, 2020 (11:30 p.m. EDT)

Notification: Approximately one month after application deadline; projects may begin on July 1, 2020

Completion Date: Projects must be completed by Dec. 31, 2021

Matching Funds: Applicants must provide 100 percent match in cash or in-kind contributions (e.g., a $25,000 request must show at least $25,000 of matching support)

Preserving Women’s Legacy Grants provide official Indiana Main Street program organizations with funds to discover, preserve and activate locations that tell stories about women’s contributions in Indiana. Grant-funded projects should lead to outcomes that are tangible and permanent and that promote visitation to the Main Street district.

Restrictions to Use of Award:

Preserving Women’s Legacy Grants cannot be used for any of the following purposes:  
  • General operating expenses 

  • Staff salaries

  • Grant administration costs

  • Political action or advocacy

  • Religious practices or training

  • Social services 
  • Scholarships or prizes
  • Gaming activities
  • Food or drink (including alcoholic beverages) 
  • Entertainment (unless it’s a key educational component of an associated program) 
  • Flowers, shrubs, or other plantings 
  • Publication of books
  • Demolition 
  • Activities or spaces that are not open to the public
